01Best Areas to Stay in Baška Voda

Baška Voda is a compact municipality on the Makarska Riviera, at the foot of the Biokovo massif. It is about 50 km from Split and roughly 10 km from Makarska. The municipality includes the town itself plus the settlements of Promajna, Bratuš, Krvavica, Bast and Topići. A seafront promenade links most of the beaches, so the choice of area mainly decides how far you walk to restaurants and how much quiet you get at night.

The decisive pick: first-time visitors should stay in the town centre or on the promenade just beside it. Nothing else in the municipality matches its mix of beach, harbour, dining and walkability, and a car is not needed.

02Town Centre and Nikolina Beach: Best Overall Base

The centre wraps around the small harbour and the Blue Flag Nikolina Beach. A pier with a statue of St. Nicholas separates harbour and beach. The main promenade, Obala Sv. Nikole, is lined with cafés, ice cream stands, bars and restaurants. Nikolina is a pebble beach with showers, toilets, a lifeguard service and water-sports operators, including parasailing.

Who it suits: first-timers, couples, groups without a car, and anyone who wants to walk to dinner.

Trade-offs: July and August evenings are loud, especially on rooms facing the promenade. Parking is tight, so check that your accommodation has a space.

Where to book:

Hotel Villa Bacchus
a family-run hotel about 20 m from Nikolina Beach and 200 m from the centre. It has a small spa area with an indoor pool and sauna, which is useful in spring and autumn.
Boutique Hotel Noemia
a 3-minute walk from Nikolina Beach, with a pool, terrace, bar and private parking. It is the highest-rated stay in town.
Hotel Horizont
a four-star on the promenade, around 200–300 m from the centre and 50 m from the pebbles. It has a pool, spa, fitness centre and tennis courts. It is the strongest all-round choice for families who want hotel services without leaving the centre.
Grand Hotel Slavia
an adults-only hotel that suits couples and has some of the best guest scores in town.
Apartments
many private apartments sit within 3–6 minutes' walk of Nikolina. They are the best-value way to stay central, usually €50–€120 per night depending on month.

03Baško Polje: Best for Families and Resort Stays

Baško Polje lies west of the centre, towards Makarska. Beaches here are smaller and less crowded than Nikolina: Baško Polje West, Middle and East, plus Dječje Selo and Stažica. The beaches are a 1.7–2.5 km walk from Nikolina. They can be reached by a flat promenade walk of about 25–35 minutes or a short drive.

Who it suits: families with young children, guests who prefer an all-in-one resort, and people who want a beach without the crowds.

Where to book:

Family Resort Urania
rated 8.9 and among the most-booked properties in the area, with family-oriented facilities.
Alemaris Resort
a three-star property facing the beachfront, with a garden, shared lounge and restaurant. It is a solid mid-budget choice.

Trade-offs: evening options are fewer than in the centre. Most guests walk or take a short taxi ride into town for dinner.

04Promajna: Best for a Village Feel

Promajna is about 3 km south of the centre. It is a former fishing hamlet with its own pebble beach, a handful of konobas and a relaxed tone. The promenade connects it to the town, and the walk takes roughly 40 minutes.

Who it suits: couples, longer stays, and visitors who find the centre too busy in August. Many accommodations here are family-run apartments and guesthouses, with prices typically €50–€110 per night.

Trade-offs: supplies are limited. There is a small selection of shops, so rent a bike or use a car or taxi for larger errands. The local bus along the coastal road passes through, but frequency drops in the evening.

05Bratuš and Krvavica: Best for Quiet and Views

Bratuš sits about 4 km from Nikolina, on the slope above a long pebble beach with pine trees and paid parking. Krvavica lies further south towards Makarska. Houses climb the hillside, so many apartments have sea views across to Brač and Hvar.

Who it suits: drivers, return visitors, and travellers who want a quiet evening with a balcony view.

Trade-offs: uphill walks and no beach club scene. Bratuš beach has little shade beyond a few pines, so bring an umbrella. Confirm parking before booking.

06Price Guide by Season

June and September
about 20–30% below peak. Sea temperatures stay comfortable and promenade crowds are thinner.
July and August
peak rates. Hotels in the centre often start around €150 for a double with breakfast, and good apartments rarely drop below €70.
April–May and October
the lowest prices, but some restaurants and beach services close or run reduced hours.

Four-star hotels in Baška Voda average roughly €250–€290 in peak summer. Mid-range three-star and apartment-hotel stays sit well below that. Prices change by date and availability, so verify before booking.

07Hotel or Apartment?

Hotel
better for short stays, breakfast included, and spa and pool access in shoulder season. Villa Bacchus and Horizont cover this well.
Apartment
better for stays of five nights or more, families needing a kitchen, and budgets under €90 per night. Many hosts require a minimum stay of 3–7 nights in July and August.

08Local Tips for Choosing Where to Stay

Ask about air conditioning.
Most hotels have it. Not every older apartment does, and July nights are warm.
Book a back-facing room in the centre.
Promenade bars carry music into the late evening in peak season. A side or rear room costs little extra and improves sleep.
Check parking in writing.
Free private parking is common outside the centre but not guaranteed within it.
Use the promenade.
The seaside path runs from Ikovac through the centre and on towards Promajna. Staying 10–15 minutes out on the path is a good compromise between quiet and access.
Beach texture.
Beaches here are pebble, not sand. Pack water shoes for children and for the entry at quieter beaches such as Baško Polje.
Day trips.
The location suits trips to Biokovo Nature Park, Krka, the Cetina canyon and island ferries. Staying in the centre makes early buses easier.
