01How Much Does a Trip to Medulin Cost?
Medulin sits on the southern tip of Istria and is cheaper than Split or Dubrovnik, mainly on accommodation and dining. Budget travelers who self-cater spend about €70–€100 per person per day. Mid-range visitors with a 3-star hotel or a good apartment and restaurant dinners spend €120–€200 per person per day. Most of the swing comes from the month of travel.
All prices below are in euros and are typical ranges. Exact rates depend on the dates, the property and how early you book.
02Accommodation Prices in Medulin
Apartments
Private apartments are the standard way to stay in Medulin. Rates vary a lot by season:
- Peak (July–August)
- €90–€180 per night for a studio or one-bedroom; €160–€350 for a two-bedroom sleeping four.
- Shoulder (May–June, September–October)
- €60–€120 for a studio or one-bedroom; €100–€220 for a two-bedroom.
- Off-season (November–April)
- about €45–€80 for a studio or one-bedroom.
A two-bedroom apartment for a full peak-season week often costs €600–€1,050 at the lower end of the market. Many hosts set minimum stays of 5–7 nights in July and August.
Hotels
The main hotel names include Park Plaza Belvedere Medulin, Arena Hotel Holiday and Hotel Arcus. Mid-range 3–4 star hotels cost about €150–€280 per night in shoulder season and €220–€400 or more in peak summer. Many offer half-board, which can be good value when restaurant dinners cost €30–€50 per person. Newer properties price above the budget tier.
Campsites and guesthouses
Medulin is known for its campsites. A standard pitch for two adults costs €25–€45 per night in July and August and €15–€25 in May, June and September. Guesthouse doubles with a private bathroom start around €40–€70 outside peak weeks.
Tourist tax
Medulin's tourist tax is €1.60 per adult per night from 1 April to 30 September and €1.10 the rest of the year. Children under 12 are generally exempt and ages 12–18 pay 50%. Private renters sometimes list it separately, so confirm whether it is in the quoted price.
03Food and Drink Prices
| Item | Typical price |
|---|---|
| Espresso or macchiato | €2.00–€3.00 |
| Cappuccino or latte | €3.00–€4.00 |
| Draft beer, 0.5L | €3.50–€5.00 |
| Glass of wine | €4.00–€7.00 |
| Konoba meal (budget) | about €18 per person |
| Mid-range restaurant dinner | €30–€50 per person |
| Groceries, daily self-catering | about €10 per person |
Self-catering with supermarket groceries plus one konoba meal every few days is what keeps a budget trip near €70 per person per day. Lunch at a café or a self-made lunch runs about €10–€20.
Skip the harbor-front tables for dinner if price matters. Konobas one or two streets back from the promenade charge noticeably less for the same grilled fish and pasta, and locals eat there.
04Transport Costs
From Pula Airport
Pula Airport is about 10–14km from Medulin. A private taxi costs around €25–€30 on fixed-rate transfers, and up to €35–€45 for metered or peak rides. A shuttle bus to Medulin takes about 40 minutes. A single airport-to-Pula shuttle ticket is €6. Port of Pula and Pula train station are both about 13km away, with taxis at roughly €15–€20.
Local buses
The Medulin–Pula bus costs about €2.50–€3.50 one way. Buses run every 30–60 minutes in peak season (June–September) from Pula's main bus station.
Car rental, fuel and parking
A compact rental car costs about €45–€65 per day in July and August, with fuel around €1.80 per liter. Paid parking runs €1–€2.50 per hour, or €10–€20 for a full day. The large lot near Bijeca beach is paid. Free spots exist farther from the promenade but need a walk. Many apartments include private parking, which saves €10–€20 a day in summer.
A car is worth it only if Istria beyond Medulin is on the plan. Within town, walking and cycling are enough. Entry to Cape Kamenjak costs roughly €10–20 per car depending on the season, and is free on foot or by bike.
Boat trips
Water taxi return trips to Levan Island cost about €15–€20 per person.
