01Getting to Supetar as a Couple

Supetar is the main port of Brač and the arrival point for the Split ferry. The Jadrolinija car ferry (line 631) crosses in about 50 minutes and runs up to 14 times a day in high season, from 05:00 until 23:59. An adult ticket costs €6.50 one way. A standard car under 5 m costs €26.10, and the driver's ticket is charged separately.

A passenger-only fast boat run by Krilo (Kapetan Luka) costs €10 per person. Taxis wait at the Supetar ferry dock. The ride to Bol takes about 40 minutes and costs €60–75 per car.

The best months are May to the end of October. June and September give warm sea and fewer crowds than July and August.

02Where to Stay in Supetar for Couples

Adults-only hotel on the waterfront

Hotel Osam is the standard choice for a romantic stay. It sits on the waterfront, takes no children, and has a rooftop bar and an outdoor pool. Book a sea-view room for the harbour outlook.

Resort hotels on the peninsula

Most of Supetar's larger hotels stand on the peninsula at the northern end of Supetar Bay. They include Waterman Svpetrvs Resort and several Aminess hotels. These suit couples who want a pool, beach access and half-board in one place. Hotel Villa Adriatica is another well-rated option.

Private apartments

Supetar has many apartments and houses for rent. Simple apartments for two start around €50 per night in summer. Choose one within 10 minutes' walk of the harbour so you can eat out without a car.

03Romantic Things to Do in Supetar

Walk the harbour at sunset

The harbour promenade is the centre of evening life. Cafés, ice cream shops and konobas line the waterfront, and the town is lively but not a party destination. Walk the cobbled lanes and small squares behind the port, then climb the bell tower of the parish church complex for views over the bay.

Swim at Punta beach

Punta, also called Banj, is the main town beach. A promenade with restaurants and café-bars runs directly behind it. For quieter water, walk or cycle along the coast away from the centre. The sea on Brač's north coast is clear.

Visit the Petrinović Mausoleum and the cemetery

The Petrinović Mausoleum and the town cemetery were designed by sculptor Ivan Rendić. They are among the most notable late-19th-century funerary monuments in Dalmatia. Allow 30–45 minutes, ideally in the evening light.

Cycle the coast

Roads run in both directions from Supetar. Ride east to Splitska and Postira, or west to Sutivan and Milna. Both directions are manageable for casual riders. Start before 10:00 in July and August to avoid the midday heat.

Book a sunset wine and stargazing tour

A 4.5-hour sunset, wine and stargazing tour on Brač departs from Supetar and is the most popular couples' activity on offer. Other options include a 3-hour tasting with olive groves and a combi-van ride, and a 6-hour farm-to-table cooking class near Milna. Reserve in advance from June to September.

Visit Škrip and the olive oil museum

Škrip is a small inland village about 10 km from Supetar. Its Olive Oil Museum covers the history of oil production on the island and includes tastings. Buy a bottle of local oil to take home.

Day trip to Vidova Gora and Bol

Vidova Gora, at 778 m, is the highest point on the Adriatic islands and a good sunset viewpoint. Zlatni Rat beach near Bol is the island's best-known beach. Bol is about 40 minutes from Supetar by road. Take a taxi for the day or rent a car, because public buses are infrequent.

Skip the Park Prirode Supetar mini zoo if you are travelling as a couple. Its peacocks and parrots suit families with young children, and it adds little to a romantic trip.

04Where to Have a Romantic Dinner in Supetar

Apinelo (grill and Mediterranean cooking) and Kala Supetar (seafood) are the two most reliable harbour-area restaurants. Both are priced in the mid to upper range, and a dinner for two with wine typically costs €70–120. Book 1–2 days ahead for a waterfront table in July and August. Request a table at sunset, around 20:30 in midsummer.

05Local Tips for Couples

  • Travel on a weekday morning. The ferry queue for cars is longest on Saturdays and Sundays in July and August, and car spaces should be booked ahead in peak season.
  • You do not need a car for a three-night stay centred on the town. Walking, cycling and taxis cover most plans.
  • Pack water shoes. Most beaches near Supetar are pebble.
  • Buy olive oil at a local producer or a market stall rather than a harbour souvenir shop.
  • Allow a full day for Split before or after your stay. The ferry makes a return trip easy.

06Suggested 3-Day Plan for Two

Day 1: Arrive on a morning ferry, swim at Punta, walk the harbour, dinner on the waterfront.

Day 2: Cycle to Postira or Sutivan in the morning, rest in the afternoon, join the sunset wine and stargazing tour.

Day 3: Škrip and the olive oil museum, then a lunch of local produce before the afternoon ferry.
