01Best Beaches in Supetar
Supetar sits on the north coast of Brač, directly opposite Split. Most of its beaches are pebble or concrete-slab beaches with clear water. Two have sandy seabed, which is rare in Dalmatia. All are free to enter. Sun loungers and umbrellas are rented at the busier beaches.
Vela Luka Beach: best for small children
Vela Luka is about 2 km from the town center. It is made up of two coves, Vela Luka and Mala Luka. It has pebble and concrete sections on land and fine sand in the water. The water is shallow, which suits toddlers and non-swimmers. Nearby are restaurants, water sports rentals and sunbeds. Bili Rat, next to it, is another quiet option.
Banj Beach: best for families who want activities
Banj is the oldest beach in Supetar and sits about 15 minutes on foot from the center, west of the port. The shore is pebbles and concrete slabs, and the seabed turns to sand after a few meters. A pine forest gives natural shade, and the bay is sheltered from wind, so the sea stays calm. The beach has a water slide, a small water park, pedal boats, a volleyball court, showers and beach massage tents. Parking near the beach is limited.
Tri Mosta (Three Bridges): best near the hotel area
Tri Mosta is a pebble beach with concrete terraces and gravel entry points. It is the main beach of the hotel area north of town and has no dedicated parking. Shade comes from trees behind the terraces.
Vlačica and Acapulco: best for a short swim
Vlačica is a small pebble and rocky beach west of the ferry dock with natural shade and several cafés. Acapulco is a pebble beach in the very center, a few minutes from the ferry port. It suits a quick swim before a ferry or after dinner.
Vrilo Beach: best for shade
Vrilo is a long pebble beach backed by a pine forest. It works well in July and August when open concrete terraces get too hot by noon.
02Which Supetar Beach Is Best for You?
| Need | Best choice |
|---|---|
| Toddlers, shallow sand | Vela Luka |
| Slides, pedal boats, activities | Banj |
| Hotel-area terraces | Tri Mosta |
| Shade in midsummer | Vrilo or Banj |
| Closest to the ferry | Acapulco |
Banj gets the most attention in guides, but Vela Luka is the better beach. It has real sand, shallower water and fewer people. Banj is better only when children want a water park.

Best areas to stay
- Town center and harbor
- Walkable to Acapulco and Vlačica, plus restaurants and the ferry. It is noisier in the evening.
- Banj and Vlačica side (west)
- Quieter, with pine shade and Banj close by. Apartments Derado and Vila Magdalena are in this part of town.
- Tri Mosta and hotel area (north)
- Flat coastal walks and larger resort infrastructure.
- Vela Luka (about 2 km)
- Best for families who want sand. Some family apartments with pools are a 5-minute walk from the beach.
04Getting to Supetar
Car ferries from Split take about 50 minutes, and services run through the day all year round. Supetar is the main ferry port on Brač, so the island's buses start here. Buses and taxis reach Bol (about 40 km away) and Zlatni Rat. Bring a car only if you plan to explore the island. For a beach stay in Supetar, walking is enough.
05Local Tips
- Book beachfront apartments for July and August by March or April. The best units near Banj and Vela Luka go first.
- Choose an apartment with air conditioning and a parking space. Parking near Banj and Tri Mosta is limited.
- Take water shoes. Pebbles and concrete edges are hard on bare feet.
- Swim early at Banj, before 10:00, to avoid the slide queues.
- For a quiet evening swim, use Vlačica or Acapulco, which are walkable from the harbor.
- A day trip to Zlatni Rat in Bol is worth doing once. Do not spend the whole stay there, since Supetar's beaches are close and free.
06Best Time to Visit
Sea temperatures reach about 24–26 °C in July and August. June and September offer water around 22–24 °C, lower prices and fewer people. Many beach bars and rentals close by mid-October.
